Went to the scrapyard yesterday and came home with six more saws. Three SEZ's, two Super 2's, and one XL-2. The XL-2 looked rough, plastic case was beat up and scratced, but the cylinder and piston were as clean as new, did not see any carbon in it at all. New spark plug and fresh fuel, primed it and started on the first pull. What was it doing in the scrap yard? I have gotten several saws running that I found at the scrapyard. Great places to find saws and parts.

I work with a guy that finds them occasionally at the dump by where he lives. And he says the same thing " why did it get tossed? it runs.."

I've picked up a few nice saws at the scrap yard. I got a Pioneer 700, 107CC, for $12.50. Unfortunately the little scrap yard that would sell anything in the yard, went out of business. The bigger ones won't sell anything. We have a local auction every Tuesday. Since March I've bought 5 running saws there. I can't figure it out, they all have had the carbs gone thru and new fuel lines installed. Only one did I have to pay a little real money for, a Super 1050 with 24" bar, $150. An XL12 for $18. A 150 Automatic for $5, a Plastic Super 2 in the red case for $20, and a Poulan 25 for $10. My buddy was at the dump/landfill and grabbed a Stihl 08S for me. It looks great, but when you pull it over it's hard to turn, with the plug out, and you can hear the bearings grinding. I'd like to get that one running someday. Just because it's a kinda small saw to be running .404 chain.
