Thanks Tim.My dad & I did that on a tractor gas tank about 40 yrs.ago, only we used stones. We had a heck of a time getting all the stones out & that had a bigger opening. It dd a good job on getting the rust out though.

As requested Leon, here are some muffler side shots of the two saws.I thought they were the same.but as you can see I was mistaken, they're two different style saws. 20180323_160052 by edju1958, on Flickr 20180323_155855 by edju1958, on Flickr

That would be the saw with the "quiet"muffler, not the one with the stack muffler?Since it already has the screws, then I'd only need the gasket, correct? The other saw that has the stack muffler is epoxied, correct? It needs the coating inside the oil tank?

Ed correct me if I'm wrong but the part you are calling the oil tank is actually the fuel tank. The handle on the 101 has the oil tank connected to it. Charles.

I'm not calling it the "oil tank handle",the people who have this on Ebay are calling it as such.

Update on my new 101 -the oil tank on this one leaks too.I believe that both of these 101's have gaskets in them for the oil tanks.I'd like to know what's involved with splitting the saws to put a new gasket in? 20180323_083404 by edju1958, on Flickr I am gonna guess you really meant to say "fuel tank on this one leaks too." Not oil tank, eh?

To tell you the truth Dan,I haven't even chercked the fuel tank to see if it leaks.I just assumed that it was the oil tank leaking & that was it.So assuming that the gas tank leaks too, what am I looking at for parts & labor here?I've found several oil tank gaskets on Ebay, relatively cheap too, although one guy raised his price after I'd inquired about it.

That would be for the screwed, not glued.

I have never used Motoseal on a fuel tank, but it would probably would work. I'd still double up and use Red-Kote as insurance though.
Ed, the gasket you referenced is the one you need.

That gasket will fit the saw that has screws holding the oil tank cover on.
