I want to rebuild a couple of Walbro HDC's,but I'm baffled as to how to get the metering lever out of the carb.Is the shaft spring loaded? There's no screw to hold it into place. 20180313_175343 by edju1958, on Flickr

It's affixed to the base. Take the two screws out of the base, but be careful, there ain't much meat on those screw heads, so make sure you find a screwdriver that fits without any slop. After the screws are out, pry along the edge and the whole base plate will come out. There's a gasket under it, and you'll need to notice it's details, because pretty sure there were some slight variations in the gaskets.

The two slotted screws will get the plate and the metering lever out. The pivot rod is staked into the plate. There is the usual spring underneath. That plate is the circuit plate and your kit will have two different circuit plate gaskets. Make sure you look and see which gasket is in the carb and pull that one out of your carb kit. If you put the wrong one in, the saw wont run.
The metering lever should stay on the pivot pin. If it doesn't, just it it back in place when you put the new gasket and the circuit plate back in.

I haven't looked at the new kit yet.Do I get a new metering lever & pin,or no?

Well, sorry to say,I think I messed it up already.I think I might've bent the metering lever when I pulled the needle out trying to figure things out.I think I saw a new carb on Ebay for $30,but I don't know if it's the right model. This carb came out of the 150.All that work on the 150 down the drain.Live & learn.

After making the last post I went to look at the HDC carb.I have another HDC that came off the blue EZ & I looked at that one too.I can take the two metering levers & compare them.If one needs to be bent a bit till it gets back into position,it can be done, but I don't believe that I bent it that bad to begin with. What I don't understand is that Walbro gives a new metering lever with just about every carb they make, except for the HDC.There's no rhyme or reason to that.
