Bought this saw on ebay 5 years ago for $5. I want to make this saw my next project. Problem is it's missing the model decal. I want to tear it down and paint and repair it. I wouldn't call it a full resto, but I want it nice. What would you put it back as.
Pics won't post. Is it because I'm a new member, or is it a Tapatalk issue. I have the pics on another forum in an old thread. Is it okay to post a link to that thread.?

Does it have points or electronic ignition? That will narrow the possible years made.

Looks like a EZ (blue parts) with a bunch of Super EZ parts added (orange parts). Late 60's early 70's saw

I was able to link to a couple of the images...I agree with undee70ss, the saw is a compilation of several. Your first task is going to need to be to determine what engine it has in order to decide on a paint scheme to go with. The early 35cc EZ's were the only ones that were produced in blue. The EZ Automatics and the Super EZ Automatics were red & white. I'd get the muffler off and measure the bore. That should give a good idea of what you are working with.

Thanks guys for the help. I will hopefully get time on Saturday to get the saw out and measure the bore.
I noticed something else about the saw. Looks like someone was running a bow bar on the saw, by the way the clutch cover was modified.

When I got the saw, the only thing I did was check to see if it would turn over, and checked piston condition. So I don't know which it has. I didn't even check to see if it would fire. Shortly after I got it I did order the throttle lock decomp parts.

I haven't had the chance to work on this saw till today. Just got over the flu and bronchitis at the same time. I did buy a few parts for the saw. New choke rod, nice used clutch cover, and the front mount that holds the handle on. The old mount was broken in 3 pieces, and the old clutch cover was broken on the bottom. So here is an updated pic with the clutch cover and mount on. i.imgur.com/A6d507e.jpg

The plan was to buy a new muffler cover, the old one is dented. Try to find a nice blue air filter cover, and try to get a nice blue EZ rear handle with decal. Plus the normal stuff, fuel line, filter, carb kit and air filter, etc. Sadly this is what I found today. This is why you never buy parts for a saw until you fully check it out. Yup, the case is broken. i.imgur.com/4K8LzT5.jpg

Yow, that looks pretty bad. They must have dropped something on it, with those broken parts.

Not shown in the pics, even the rear handle is broken where it meets the air box. I'm still going to try to fix it, just going to take awhile finding the parts. Hopefully it won't be too hard finding a used blue EZ drive side case.

Thanks, I will get in touch with Joyce after I get paid. Looks like I need part # A-65201, which was only used on the EZ. Makes sense, because the EZ auto, and Super EZ auto would have the mounts for the auto oiler.

walterg I don't have any blue air filter cover. I have red and black used. #A=65096. Do you have the nut and retaining ring that holds it down? The cover alone used is $5.00. With the nut and ring it is $7.50.Let me know what cover you want and I will send with drive case and handle. joycewilson2@gmail.com

I'd prefer a black metal one if you have it, if not red is fine. I can always paint it. Please add it to my order. Thanks, Walter.

I got my parts today. Big Thank you to Joyce for sending them out that quick.
The blue rear handle I'm really happy with. I've watched every blue EZ rear handle listed on Ebay, and not one of them have had a serial number tag. So I was really glad that Joyce had a nice one with the tag. I also got a nice blue drive side case.
The black air filter cover has a bend in the lower edge I don't think I can straighten without snapping it. I will keep this as a back-up. It's still usable.
The main reason I'm bringing it up is the hold down nut. Its 1/4 20. Now by all the IPL's I've checked for all saws from EZ to Super EZ they use the same part number. The thread is suppose to be 1/4 28. Has anyone run across this problem.?

Yes, I have. There were different thread pitches used. Found this out on a Super EZ auto.
