I saw a bar for a SXL/900 series that was marked GW24003-F2 which should be a 24" gas welded hard tip(00) with a .063 chain gauge and a F2 mount pad pattern. Was a .063 gauge chain common on these saws and do you need a special hub for them or just the chain. I couldn't see the markings on the chain as to the chains gauge and I'm worried it could be a .050

Spur sprocket of the correct pitch will work with either, rim not so much. I don't know about common or not on SXL-900's. Number on the drive link should tell the gage, not directly but it is the model # and that tells the gage from the maker. www.frawleyssawshop.com/chain-codes.htmlScroll down the page.

Thanks, The drive links aren't visible on the pictures and it doesn't say the chain is .063, so a guy begins to wonder if its mismatched when it doesn't say

I also wonder why some 20" bars call for 72 links and others call for 70, is it the chain design or the bar? Thanks

I'm looking at a GB bar and I googled the bars number and found it took 70 links, thanks
