Might be doing a tear down on my XL-901 and I was wondering is upgrading to a XL-925 piston an option. The stroke is the same and the cylinder gasket has the same P/N, but will the other parts that bolt on to the cylinder as before?

The only problem you should run into is the muffler port spacing. You'll need to upgrade to a 925 muffler.

Sounds about right. You can easily find replacement piston rings, pistons and cylinders for the XL-925 series saws, but 2" rings are hard to some by. The compression on my XL-901 is down to 135 psi, but the piston skirt and cylinder wall looks bright and shiny. If I can't find 2" rings for it, I was looking into another option to get it running in the peak of health.

Looks like I can buy a C-51 piston & ring combo at Lil Red Barn, which uses the same rings I need.
