I'm in need of a good used or new muffler body for my SXL-902,Part#A-68982.I also need 2 of the shoulder screws,Part#63855-A.I have the muffler cap & the baffle. The jackass that owned the saw previously damaged the muffler body's screw mounts by putting a course thread bolt in one mounting hole & put a WOOD screw with a washer in the other hole which destroyed the fine threads.

Anytime you buy used equipment you are going to see how many great mechanical engineers are out there. Usually they just tell you how much they know, but now you get to see first hand.

I got the saw for $15,so I can't complain too much.I'm actually surprised at how good of a shape it's in.There's still some chrome left on the muffler cap.The thing is:how stupid can a person be?OK,I can understand putting a course thread bolt in a fine thread hole,BUT,to put a WOOD SCREW in? That's one that I just can't comprehend.I did find a ring for it on Ebay (actually 2 rings). One guy wants #15,the other guy wants twice as much, but I'm not sure if it's the correct ring.

Even if you get a saw like that for free, by the time you get it running or usable you may have as much in it than a good running saw cost that didn't have near the wear. You cant just count the parts unless you think your labors worth nothing. I try to buy saws that were broken early on and never repaired. It's the repair by the engineers and being run without being fixed properly that really kills these saw

Thanks Leon! I searched on Ebay for the muffler body & got no results.I made an offer (I like those with "Make Offer) for the muffler body,so as soon as I get that then I'll be ordering the screws from you.I was thinking of getting 3 new ones for the muffler & keeping my one that I have that's good for a replacement if need be.Do you have 3 Leon?

You all have seen the pics of the condition in which I got the saw,Hell,we didn't even know what model it was!I'll post pics of it when it's done & running with a new bar & chain on it.Everyone had better stand back from their devices when I post them because I don't want anyone to short out their device from drooling.LOL
