How is a clutch removed from the shaft? Is it just a tapered fit with a key like the flywheel?

Many are screwed on with left threads, which saw are you referring to?

Left handed threads on that clutch. You will need a spanner wrench to remove it properly. You can make one or find a reproduction tool on Ebay. Just be careful...oolagahan just bought one of the repro's and found it to be less than sturdy.
