Quick question on the figure 8 bushing deal that holds inside guide bar plate, purchased a new bar for my xl 76 and the slot is to narrow for bar to go all the way on with the little plate holder on ,my question is can I just remove the holder and bar will fit properly? When I look at parts diagram that plate holder does not seem to show up on list anyway......Bob

Yes, The bushing is included if needed but not required if your bar fits without it.

On a lot of Homelite saws the bar studs were changed from 5/16" to 3/8", (SXL's for instance). The bars were all changed (maybe originally) to 3/8" slot and the S or "8" shaped spacer to fit over the studs takes up the clearance. I have a couple of them in my hell box, just in case. You can do the same job with two short sections cut from a 5/16" ID x 3/8" OD spring, each one slipped over a stud.

Very quick responses to questions, love it...bob There aren't the amount of posts that you may see at the big chainsaw site, but the posts here are so informative and helpful they don't need all the extraneous BS to be a great forum. I learn much more here than I would anywhere else. I just rebuilt the carb, replaced the clutch and sprocket on the neighbors Stihl 029 just from the stuff I learned on this forum in the last few months.

Leon deserves the credit, he took the bull by the horns and salvaged the wreck this place once was. Now it shining bright just like his other restorations. Just one more coat of paint...

Well Dan I appreciate that, but I really believe this has been a team effort at HOH. You and undee70ss make sure that no new member goes unwelcomed and no question goes unanswered for long. Members like oologahan, clasec and many others contribute a wealth of information. Long and short of it is there are enough of us wingnuts that love old Homelites to make a go of this forum. Hopefully we can spread our sickness...er, I mean appreciation to enough people to keep this hobby alive and kicking for a good long time!

One reason this site is so successful is that the people that belong here are concerned about Homelite saws, products, and people, not about the almighty dollar or making money off every purchase. I have never belonged to a forum that had the knowledge and class this forum has, its great to be here.
