I have 3 running and 3 parts super xls.
Some have the Walbro SDC and others the Tillotson carb. Does one have an advantage over the other? Looks like they could be swapped with no issues.

Both carburetors are interchangeable other than the choke rod size needs to be matched to the carburetor. I don't think the Walbro carb's ever were made to use the early metal choke rod, but I know that Tillotson's were produced for both. Both are reliable carburetors and I don't personally have a favorite. But that's just my opinion!

Rebuilding the sdc, the carb has one black thin membrane then a thick gasket. The kit has a very thin black membrane, a tan flexable backer for the membrane? Then 2 gaskets one thin and one about the thickness of the original. Any thoughts on the stack up.

The thin black is the diaphragm, the tan one is for ethanol fuel. I don't think you should ever use ethanol fuel and I would use the thin diaphragm. I think they pump better, more responsive. I would use the thick gasket with the thin diaphragm. Install them like the IPL shows. :{)

Just curious is all I know ethanol actually goes back a long way but I didn’t think anything was actually changed to adapt to it until the last 10 years or so
