I received my latest shipment from a dealer in the UK that I'm slowly buying out...had some L-shaped piston rings that didn't show up my database. So I started going through my newest international IPL's and hit pay dirt! The XL-913M is mostly like the other 900 series saws, but it used two different pistons. The A-67179-A used a single l-shaped ring, 2 1/16" bore. The A-68066 used a L-shaped ring on the BOTTOM landing and a 55537 ring on the top! Check out page 3 of the IPL, that is a crazy looking setup: www.leonschainsawpartsandrepair.com/uploads/3/9/7/9/39792537/homelite_xl-913m_chainsaw_ipl_24363.pdf

That's a first! Never seen that before. I remember reading over at AS that the Dykes rings were phased out because of carbon buildup causing damage, so they only were used in the late 60s/early 70s. They'd be perfect today with modern synthetic oils. But to put a head-land ring below a regular ring? ? Sure would be nice if someone could explain this one. Wouldn't have believed it if you hadn't shown us! Dan
