I have two Homelite XL-850's one is serial number 2391641 and it has a bolt together case, the other XL-850 is serial number 2747636 and it has a glued (now welded) case. My XL-800 serial number 213255 has a glued case, but my XL-901 serial number 2944197 and my XL-903 serial number 3123426 have bolt together cases. Do the serial numbers show the earlier saws were bolt together cases, later saws, or have no bearing whatsoever? Thanks, Alain

May not answer the question of why one is cemented and not the other, but does point out that any leaks will not be repaired under warranty . A little out of the expiration date. Nice to know about the number on the bumper area.
