Wanting to dress up a Zip-B with one of those pretty brass spiked bumpers, but finding out that the casting has unthreaded holes. Did Homelite mention in a service memo their use of a threaded insert or just a helicoil? The IPL only shows the bolts.

The IPL only shows the bolts. stillsawing The first Homelite Zips did not have threads in the crankcase to add a bumper plate. The later Zips were threaded. The part number for the insert to put in the early Zips was 72276. I did several easily, but don't have any more inserts left. Perhaps if you could contact someone who has a lot of Homelite parts you may be able to find a pair. They were listed in the 1976 IPL for 35 Cents chainsawlady
