450 Homelite will run if fuel poured in carb. But no fuel is being drawn into the carb. replaced fuel line, filter & pulse line with yellow tygon. Boot appears to be fine cannot see any holes or cracks & is nice & pliable. Carb is a walbro SDC 54 has been totally cleaned & rebuilt with new jet as well metering level is set correctly . Pulse line installed through hole in crankcase. Any help?

If it will run with the fuel cap open or cracked, replace the venting parts in the cap, good luck

To not draw fuel at all, the seals would have to be basically missing. I have a 550 that I've been working on that would run, but not idle properly. It turned out to be the intake gasket (gasket under the plastic hub for the intake boot). Is any fuel making it to the carburetor at all?

Pulse line installed through hole in crankcase. Any help? Explain pulse line installed through hole in crankcase. There should be a nipple where the pulse line connects to. As a test, remove pulse line from carb, pull rope while holding finger over pulse line hose, do you feel the pulses?

There is no fuel even in the fuel line. I can add mix in carburetor & will fire right up but will not draw fuel from the tank. Have new fuel line & filter cleaned tank cap vent. installed new line for pulse into crankcase. I did notice crack in carburetor spacer but not where carb sits. Should I try changing that spacer? The boot I haven't replaced but took it out & inspected it it seems fine. Carb was rebuilt first cleaned & boiled in vinegar it is super clean looking. Metering is set to specs. Hmm? Couple years ago saw ran fine & strong. Thanks for the help. My 360 will be my next project.

Felt no pulses or suction when taking line off carb & putting finger over line hole. However when I put new line through hole in crank case did not know there is a nipple there. didn't see it . what do I need to do to make sure it is hooked to a nipple rather than just sticking through the hole. Thanks

I ordered a nipple. Old one must have come out when I took old hose off. probably still in the old hose maybe. Thanks

I took the pulse line out put finger over hole & there was strong pulse so must be because the nipple is missing.

Are you sure pulse line isn't pinched? Have you did a compression test on this saw? What does the piston look like through the muffler? You may need to do a pressure/vacuum test on the saws also. Poor pulses point to a crankcase leak, which would be usually seals, or blow by from a scored piston.

If you are getting good pulses now and still will not pull fuel, you may need to pressure test the carb.

When doing the compression test do you pulll just one time & look at guage or pull several times until it tops out? Thanks

Found 185 to 190 psi, let sit ten minutes saw no gauge movement. I guess that would eliminate any seal leaks or other air leaks. must be something to do with the carb.
