I bought a C-51 from a co-worker's grandfather yesterday. The piston was stuck, but I freed it today. I poured a small amount of 30 W through the plug hole and pulled easy a lot of times to lubricate the piston, rod, etc. I poured in some fresh mix that I mixed about 30:1, and poured a small amount in the plug hole and replaced the plug. The saw has spark over, and I saw a little mix blowing out of the muffler when I pulled. It tried to fire and then I could not get it to hit again. I will attempt tomorrow and will let you all know how it goes.
I am excited about this forum. I have wanted an old Homie for a little while now. This is my first Homelite, and will definitely not be my last. I am eager to meet some new folks and to learn as much as I can concerning rebuild and restorations. I have opened a hobby/ part-time chainsaw repair shop. I am a full time military technician in the TN Army National Guard and a Captain. Thank you all and have a blessed evening.

Hi Trever and welcome to H-O-H Step one - are you sure you have spark? Take the plug out, plug it into the wire, and then find some way to ground the spark plug base. Switch on! Pull the rope, not real hard just a steady pull and you should see a spark. Step two - You said the piston was stuck but you freed it up. You may still have stuck rings. Does the saw feel like it has compression when you pull the rope with the plug in? The best thing would be a compression gauge but you should be able to tell by holding you thumb over the plug hole and pulling the rope. If it doesn't feel like much get some carbon remover and spray into the plug hole then crank it a few time and squirt it again. Let it sit for an hour or so then give it about 10 good pulls on the rope. Squirt some gas/oil mix into it put the plug in and give it a try. The "C" doesn't have compression release so you should be able to feel the compression using the rope. Let us know how step one and two go!

It has between 95-100 psi. I will eventually put new rings in it. The saw is needing another clutch cover; I found one. Thank you Lewis. I should have it in a weel or two. I will take pictures this afternoon. Have a blessed day. Trever

Here is some pictures of the C-51. I did not do much to it today. I worked on the Strunk instead.

Thanks to Lewis, I am able to adjust the chain now! I will tinker with the saw Saturday. I need to clean the carb. I'll post pictures soon.

Sounding great Trevor. Tillotson HL carb diaphrams and kits are pretty easy to find if you need 'em. Looks like you may be cutting with her soon enough!
