Hey Guys, My father and I have a new project for the spring. A 1978 FORD 335 loader, 3-cylinder gas, live PTO, 3-point hitch, only 900 hours (so the clock says). Just gotta fix the no-spark issue and hopefully she'll be running tomorrow. Steve

Nice! I enjoy working on/using my dad's 1947 Farmall B tractor. First piece of machinery that I ever drove!

Nice. My dad used to have a Ford 8N tractor. I remember it had a blade but it was in the back. The guy he sold it to is still using it today.

One starter solenoid, a points and condenser set, cap, rotor and wallah. Up and running! Now to check the timing and get the vacuum advance working. The motor is pulling between 15-20 in hg at idle but the advance plate doesn't seem to move, even with 25 inches. There's a spring tension adjustment inside that I'll have to find out about. Hopefully the service manual will discuss it. Steve

Check for rust before you adjust anything, (unless you know someone was in there ahead of you messing with it). You should be able to move the breaker plate mechanically even with the spring adjustment all the way tight. I do not have any experiance with that specific tractor but lots with vacuum advances on old stuff. Research the manufacturer of the distributor, its probably Prestolite or some such, and you may find lots of generic information. There should be a tag with all the info you need to search attached to the distributor.

Hi guys, anyone have any experience with UTF fluid? Any particular brands to consider or avoid? I need to add some hydraulic fluid to the FEL.

Uh, you know, when you are under there, uh, hooking up, uh, be sure the guy in the tractor, uh, knows which way is up, or have your helmet on, eh? Yes, I can balance a beer on my head these days real easy...

Well, the tractor looks great, BUT, after nearly being knocked out by the thankfully flat bottom of a similar bucket, I would offer the advice to be VERY careful with the controls when someone is under there dogging or undogging. AND, NO BEER!! (Does ANYONE drink beer when using a chainsaw?, EEK! That is a scary thought.) Nice tractor, it would be nice to have one.
