Anyone know what the differences are on XL925 handle bar brackets? I see A70289 and 687644C. There may be others I suppose too. Any information would be helpful. Photos are of the one I need to replace. Hole in the middle, by itself, is countersunk and was used to hold a 1/4" aluminum patch. I don't know if it was there from the factory. It looks added by whoever put on the brace after this bracket broke. Thanks, Dan

Hmm, both those references show 68766, -2 and -6A. I don't find a 70289 on Leon's site. Anyway, the saw is Canadian, T77, so it is from 1977. Do you know if that is early or late? There was no hand guard on it but it does have the hole so I guess it likely had one when new. There are quite a few repairs on the saw so the hole might not mean anything. The IPL rev 2 shows the bracket without the hole and no hand guard but the part number is listed as 70289-2, which is the same number shown with the hole and hand guard in the rev 3 IPL, go figure. Guess what I really need is to find out what the saw came with.
It needs a clutch cover(clutch screw backed out and cut a hole right through the cover) and the forward chain guard is missing (that is listed as an accessory I guess).
I have 3 IPL's rev 1,2, and 3 but none of them has a date. And I don't know how to get a day or month off the Canadian serial number.

HI Dan, I agree with John, your handle bracket is a later (or latest) model and the hole is factory for the optional hand guard. I see what your saying about the same part number listed on both the second and third revision, despite the second revision not showing the hole. I think this might have been a "typo" because the second revision does list the optional hand guard kit on page 2. Unfortunately, the IPL's were never dated from the factory, a real shame. And dates that do appear occasionally on them were ones that were hand written, likely from the original shop owner who dated them when they came in. Dan, if your Canadian Terry serial plate looks like this one from a 1979 Super Mini SL, then it basically reads the same as the traditional ones from the US. At least that's my take on it. Cheers. Steve

My SN starts with T77 space then 5 or 6 digits, which I have forgotten for the moment, which several people have told me means Canadian from 1977. Nobody has been able to tell me for sure when the saw changed from early to late. That is really what I was looking for, early or late. I have not found production start/stop dates or a date for change over to add the hand guard. Oh, well.
Hey, that is a good looking saw there. :{)

Dan, does your saw have a UT number listed? I have a partial list of UT production runs that might narrow it down. The list shows what year a particular UT number was produced till. If your serial number is the customary eight digits, then I believe it follows the normal identification criteria that were accustomed to seeing, just disregard the spaces. I realize that's not necessarily the information your seeking though. Steve

I will get the UT and Serial Numbers tonight. I think there was only one UT that I have seen for these saws, anyway I will post it. Thanks.

Hey Dan, Do you have a Super XL-925 (UT-10415x) or a Super XL-925W (UT-10510x)?

Dan, UT-10415 was produced till 1981, however, I don't know the start year. But it was the first series. That's a funky serial number, so much for the standard eight digits. I guess I would call it a '77 too. Good luck my friend.
