I have a Super 2 carcass laying around, and also an XL that doesn't seem to run very well for some unknown reason. Would it make sense to try and rebuild the Super 2 from the XL? I should have all the parts to mix and match to make it a runner. The only real advantage I can see is the Super 2 has an adjustable oiler and a tad bit more power. 28cc's is not much of a saw, thats barely a weed trimmer.

Mine are all metal. I think the crankcase and ignition on the "parts" Super 2 is still good. I will use the XL carb and a few other parts. I think the oiler is still the crankcae pulse dickbill style and the adjustment is simply and outlet flow control of some kind. I might start working on it on a rainy day or when I get bored cutting up stuff with my SXL-AO

If I remem right, the VI Super2 had a 33cc plant? Or maybe it was 31, I'd have to look. I have a few VI Super 2s, and they all have the same engine as the regular super 2, which is 1.9 cu in, or just a hair over 31cc. I may be wrong, but as far as I know, there's only 2 sizes of these engines, 1.6 cu in for the XL and 1.9 for the Super 2 versions. Dan

Oldzip
I don't have any of the others to compare but I got a neighbours XL2 running for him a few months ago, and the thing sounds like it has a high performance engine.. Beautiful sounding note to the exhaust. Any time I hear him fire it up I stop what I'm doing and just listen. The thing has a very quick throttle response and seems more powerful than 26cc.

What size chain are people using on these little guys? When they can out they had 1/4 pitch but .325 wasn't around. If I had one I'd look at trying to find a .325 sprocket.
