Does anyone know where I can find green metallic paint to match the old Homies?
Thanks!

Good question. I have a C-91 that was getting a bit of corosion on the air filter cover. I finally decided to go to an auto parts store and just picked up the first can of Dupli-color metallic green that looked close. Turned out to be a good bit darker than the original. It would be nice if a good match were out there.

If you had a good section of paint any local auto body should be able to match it pretty closely. From what I hear PPG Concept 2000 is supposed to be top of the line paint. Just my 2.

If your auto paint supply can put it in a can and you don't mind spending a minimum of $40, it's a great way to go. I found a pretty close green at my local auto paint supplier. They have a large selection of Duplicolors in a can. It's called Alpine Green and the # is DSCC399. Not perfect, but it's as close as I could get after looking all over the St. Louis area. I'm using it on my C9. I'm using Duplicolor Chrysler Industrial Red engine enamel for the red. Pretty close match with a hint of orange. Gas and oil resistant and will withstand temps to 500* F ! All Advanced Autos carry it.

Hey Uni-cleb, thats how I first read your name , and pronounced it in my head. I've heard that Evenrude blue is a mach to Homelite blue, but I have never checked. As far as the green, custom mix at the paint store. Other than that, no clue. sorry
P.S. search Arboristsite, this has been talked about before over there. Weather or not there are concrete answers, I don't know. CSW

The name is actually uncle b - left out the last space. B is for "baldy". My nephew use to call me Uncle Baldy when he was 4-5 years old.
Here's what I did to match the paint. Krylon makes a product called "X Metals". It's a transluscent paint that give an anodized look. It was close but a tad too blue so I applied a base coat of gold Krylon followed by the X Metals. Just a little darker than the original but it's close enough for me. It's just on the starter screen of an original EZ so if I ever get the correct color, no problem to repaint. I'll be posting before and after photos when I'm done with the restoration.

Could we still call you Uni-Cleb? It's just seems far too ridiculous not to use. But, If you want I'll stop. CSW

My first one is a Super EZAO. Bought it used 28 years ago. Cleaned the points and it ran fine. Been running strong ever since. Second is a Super 1050E my dad had. Strained my forearms many times trying to start it - points had been replaced with some electronic module and timing was over advanced. Put it all back original and repainted. Looks, starts, and runs great. Just finished restoration on an original EZ. Total strip and paint, new crank, seals, used P&C, new rings, carb kit. Just a few more finishing touches before I start it. Still need the decals. I'd like to find a decent Homie bar but the original is not in bad shape for all I plan to run it. Takes a 7/16" chain so it has to be a hardnose. A friend just gave me three old blue XL12s. Looks like all need P&C but I'll find out for sure this winter. Maybe I'll be surprised. Maybe it's me but I think a Homelite sounds like a chainsaw should sound. Gotta wear muffs for the 1050!
