Well, I found myself a 240 that I thought I had but didnt know where it was. Got the thing running pretty good but wasnt getting any oil. Took apart the oiler and found the diaphram was hard and cracked. So I obviously need a new one. However when I went to try and find the diaphram p/n but could only find a number for the whole pump which was A96538A. Any chance somebody could confirm this number is all that is avaliable or is there a diaphram number somewhere? Saw ut is 10629. Also, would anybody have the part I need, whatever it is? Thanks

From what I have heard the oil pump on the 240 is the weak link. This is compounded by the fact that the pump parts are very hard to find. I'm sure that LMT37 or E&E will jump on this if they have the parts, or just to tell you the avaliability of the parts. CSW

Yeah that's kind of what I have heard too, not exactly homelite's best, but its a saw - besides its got a nice little, short, tight-nosed bar I can use for carving. Hopefully one of those guys can help me out.

I wonder if you could put the manuel oiler from a 245 on a 240???

Thanks edge,
I'll have to decide if I want to spend that much on this thing.

Well maybe I should spend a little on it because it does actually seem to run quite well. Usually pops on 3rd pull w/ choke then fires and runs within the next couple. I have the idle a little too fast right now but it seems to run out nicely. So what do you guys think? (If i wasnt lazy I'd make an actual poll ;D)

I am not really much of a carver myself. Very much self taught and still inexperienced. It's kind of a nice little hobby and have already had a couple people ask me to attempt to carve them various objects. I have been using an XL with a regular 16" oregon bar and found this a challenge to safely control at times, so just by first impressions I like the "bigger" feel of the 240, as well as its small (maybe 12") bar. So chances are I am going to work on this one and keep it around as a "hobby saw" One thing I have made note of right off though is the muffler WILL be modified - dumbest design I think I have seen thus far.

Yup just a little xl, nice handy little saw. And yeah if I could afford to purchase a "real" carving bar and 1/4 chain that would be ideal, but for what I do I think I'll just try this bar and .325 on the little xl until i get the 240 working properly. Maybe if I get good I could sell some work and afford to buy a bar and chain...and what the heck if I'm gonna do that I might as well get myself another Homelite saw to go with it
