I was wondering if anyone has ever seen a Homelite SXL or XL-12 with a chain brake set up. If someone has one it would be cool to see a pic of it. Thanks all

I've been around a lot of SXL/XL-12's and seen a lot of those saws on Acres site. But never have I seen a brake on any of them. But that's not to say they never fit one for some low production run or for export. CSW

CSW, I haven't seen one either but the other day I saw a cover that looked like the regular XL one but had a raised hump over the top flat. It would be kind of neat to find parts to make one up and put on the shelf as a display ;D

I like these saws best & I have always wondered why I have never seen a chain brake? when I bought my last new Homelite SuperXL limited edition in blue it was only non chain braked saw dealer had but wasnt reason I bought. I would have prefered a chain brake not so much for kickback but for carrying it running between logs I always shut it off if I have to walk more than a couple feet or over unever ground. I have found alot of information since I been on here this month & I thank everyone for their help so far. so back to original question.. did Homelite make a chain brake for the super XL. or xL12 ? or did one of copy cat saws have one? if yes I will start asking more questions at any old saw shops I stop at. Thank you, Randy

Bill, Could you post a picture of that saw? I would like to know where I might find parts for a cover.

I have to appoligize for the complete misinformation I posted. I am not sure now what saw this is. I posted last night at around 2AM that I thought it was a XL-76. Well now I think was wrong also. I am not sure. I am at work now when I get home I will take another look. In any event I will try to post a few pics of interest, Sincerely, Bill
