after all the years that i've cut wood i've never seen a chain come apart at the rivet. i'm just curious because i'm almost ready to make my homie 77-95 cc.-into a 2 man saw with the stinger handle. i want to be as safe as possible.bought a complete tough plastic face shield today for the stinger man. let me know of your experiences-please.

I only broke 1 chain in my life. I was aprox. 10 years old I am 41 now. & chainsaw was a Remington Mighty Mite 500 I dont remember what happened exactly but it broke during a cut & went forward & wrapped around a small sappling in front of me took the bark off I dont remember how much other damage to the tree. but it did shake me up at the time thinking of it coming back at me. I can tell you the chain wasnt cut into the rivets & my dad was sharpening by hand for me mostly at that time.
I know we will have a helper handle when we get mill for our saw & I have been thinking of what can be done to protect my wife.
whether or not recomended will plan to use an extension to put her farther away & probably have her wear my heaviest leather biker coat & chaps. I will keep her as safe as well as me from harms way

IS THE EXTENSION HANDLE HOME MADE OR SOMETHING YOU CAN BUY?I'M ALL ABOUT SAFTEY. LEMMENO. I have no idea if anything is available I am planning to make something one way or another just to get her farther away. I will have to see what kind of stub handle & what is best suited. I may have to weld something up that can be attached or just make a sleeve to use a wood pole & bolt sleeve to handle & pole. right now I am just doing all the learning myself. but I am very good at fabrication been welding since I was 10. I worked in a custom independent Harley shop for 13 years & untill me & owner had a falling out. so I can pretty much make anything I need to especially with decent pics... lol Randy
