Who or what is a good source for bars and chains? I'm looking for a 24" bar and chain combo and also a 28" combo for SXLAO saws. Does anyone have any suggestions? I've been looking at Oregon PowerMatch bars and 72LGX chains. Thanks,

Don't have a good source but you can't go wrong with an OREGON setup. I've always had great luck with them.

The longer D196 bars are getting a little hard to find from Oregon. I am not sure what GB and others offer, As for chains they are easily found at very reasonable prices. I have so much .063 around here now I am not sure what I am going to do with it, Now granted that is of no use on a SXL but I sure have enough for awhile.

Hi
I've had good luck with the GB pro top bars, they are good pro quality. I don't see any listing for the Sxlao saw bar in my Stens Book, other wise I would say they would be a good source.

Hay biggreen, Those are some kinda long bars for a SXL to handle. Mine have no longer than a 20" on them. I know Baileys has a 24" bar that's branded as Carlton made by GB. I think they sell 'em for $35 or so which is a pretty good deal. One of my 925s has one of these bars and its not too bad.

I have run a 30" GB .063 w/.404 sprocket tip on my 2100S and have come to the conclusion that those Australian's know how to make rugged and dependable bars. I would buy one for my SXL any day.

Bill, Correction. The bar is 30". I got this bar from a distributor in New Hampshire back in 2004. Very nice people too. They didn't have the 24" bar I wanted and only had a 30" one in stock with a 3/8 tip. They swapped out the tip w/.404 and priced the set up for the cost of the 24". I think it was around $57.00 back then. I haven't a clue what a set up like this would cost today

That bar mount for the 2100 is getting even harder to find and the 3/8 would be exactly what I want. I would prefer a shorter bar but I would not pass up the longer ones. Bill

Bill, Have you tried contacting a supplier? I'm almost positive you can still get a set up for your 2100. The C-series saw are still very popular.
