I have a well maintained DM 50 cutoff saw that suddenly quit working. Since I have a well running 360 chainsaw with identical ignition components, I substituted the module, coil and sparkplug to try to get it started. It shows not a hint of ignition, even when I give it a quick shot of gas or starting fluid down the carb. Compression is good at 120 lbs. Carb boot is new and carb is clean.
I'm baffled...........

so does it fire when prime with fuel down the carb??
120lbs should be enough to run. even though its not the greatest

There is not a hint of ignition even when I put fuel or starting fluid down the carb with the throttle open. It sure seems like an ignition problem as it ran strong until just quitting.

And SO, how did the story end?

Replaced it with a Stihl. Had work to do and got tired of messing with it. Been sitting in the garage ever since. Looks like new, but just won't start.
Had it apart numerous times, swapped ignition components from a running saw and it still wouldn't even hint of firing.

So after swapping all the ignition parts (including the receptacle), did you check for spark? Without the special ignition checking tool (basically a clear transformer pack) you'll need to remove the transformer pack, attach a piece of wire up inside against the spring, remove the plug, reattach the transformer to the receptacle with the wire lead hanging out, wrap the the wire end around the spark plug end and then ground plug. Sounds to me you still don't have spark. The module and core from the 360 will run the DM50 but will not have the electronic built in governor, I'm sure you probably knew that though. Cheers. Steve
