Trying to do a little more research, but I'm not having much luck. The 400 & 500 saws seem like bored and stroked XL's. Do the XL 600, XL 700 and XL 800 follow along the same pattern or does the 800 fall into the 925 size? Does anyone have any pictures of a 600 or a 700? Not much on Mr. Acres. The 800 looks like a small 925 or similar. Any info would be appreciated. Hotsawz, have you run up on any 500's? Thanks, BigGreen

BigGreen, I haven't come across any of these saws with the exception of the XL-400 that I own. It would seem to me that if a saw was produced in extreme quantity as the 925's, we would see them surfacing here and there (other than Ebay)more often. But here in the Northeast I have yet to see any of these saws. As far as the 500 goes, I had talked to a guy from PA. at a local engine show who said he had one. I would certainly be proud to own any of these saws. I believe the SXL-925's came around at the tail end production of the XL saws you were asking about, but could be wrong. Homelite made so many models and displacements in the XL line. it could lead one to believe that some of the newer (mid 70's/80's) saws were offsprings with lots of weight shaved off

Hay BigGreen, Yea, the 700/800/900 are basically from the same root, just as the 400/500 are from the XL-12/Super XL lineage. The XL-600 is something though that I can't comment on. I'm curious if someone here can shed a bit more light on this animal.

ok...as far as I know the xl-400 and xl-500 are based on the Super XL...same "body style" with larger bores/strokes. The xl-700 and xl-800 are the same basic design as the xl-900 series with smaller bores/strokes and i would suppose different designs/features or whatever.
im with everyone else...i dont have any knowledge of the xl-600

Thanks hawtsawz, lesorubcheek, and oldbigred for your replies. They answer my questions about the 400 & 500 and the 700 & 800, but it seems as if we have a mystery saw, the 600!

Hi biggreen
Check out the pics of my saw on the 900 something no spark thread, see if it looks like your saw. We still haven't positivity identified it yet it's in the 700 to 900 range.
