“A good smelly saloon is my favorite place in the world.” Paden (Kevin Kline) to Emmett (Scott Glenn) in “Silverado”.
Some might feel the same way about chain saw shops. The old ones are disappearing, closed down, sold out, and replaced by shiny showplaces with conditioned air and no dust on the floor.
How about saving the history of those old shops with pictures?
Maybe you have a favorite local shop, or find one in your travels. If the owner agrees, take some pictures, inside and out, and post them here.
Or, maybe you have some old photos from the past. Scan them in and post them. Or, maybe you’re the owner of a genuine old shop, past or present. Show us some pictures.
Include dates or interesting facts about the shop if you have them.
Is it still open? Tell us where it is so we can stop in if we’re around there.
You could either post them in this thread so that the collection is all in one place, or post them in a separate thread.

I work on all brands of small engines and chainsaws. Started my shop in 1978, year after I graduated highschool as an auto repair, machine and welding shop. Chainsaws, small engine, welding and machine work only since about 1990. Have bought out 14 other small engine shops. Try to keep adding better tools every year to make work better, faster, easier and cleaner. Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Main work area and bench in photo 3. White work bench cluttered with chainsaws. Behind is a small lift table/bench with a chainsaw handle and tank assembly. Behind that is a large lift table/bench with a JD mower on it. And in front is one of 3 rolling tables/workbench with a snow blower on it. Took pictures at a very busy time. LOL Very seldom have all benches clean. Guess that is a good thing though ;D Tom
