I got out early this morning and went up the Cave Falls Road into the southwest corner of Yellowstone N.P. A few miles from the parking lot I was in fresh powder, no other tracks. Great ride! This is along the Falls River, just outside the YNP boundary. Had to go around 6 downed trees from the last storm. I took this pic on the way back, this is one of the trees I was able to get around. Got to within a mile of Cave Falls and got stopped by a tree that had the whole road blocked over to the river canyon. So I didn't make it to the Falls. NEEDED A CHAINSAW! These are the same roads we travel during the summer in the old Jeeps. Here's another pic I took on the way in. This looks across the river canyon to the high plateaus along the southern boundary of YNP and the Tetons in the distance. Had to cut the ride short so we could get home tonight for family birthday party. Dang!

WOW!! Those are cool pictures!! Nice sled also. Surprised though it does not have a chain saw scabbord on it with at least an XL 2 on board riding up there with all those downed trees in the way. Tom You must live close to the mountains in the background.

Glad you liked the pictures Tommy, it is a great place to spend some time.
We can usually get around the trees by either going uphill, downhill or over it. The one that stopped me just happened to be too big and in the wrong place.
I carry a couple of small handsaws and a hand axe for cutting needs. Not nearly as fun as a chainsaw, but lighter and easier to carry.
