I have a Homelite toy chainsaw that I believe was first introduced in 1971. I am looking to see what it is worth. Would anyone know where i might find this information? I have searched the internet but to no avail. Thanks so much!

There is no Blue Book value that you can assign. How do you plan to market this item?

To Brian, it doesn't look like that but I will post a picture tomorrow. It doesn't say 150, just Homelite on it and it has a fake bead chain that moves when you pull the cord. It's quite a cute toy and I have seen the box online at auction sites but no product to accompany it.

The pic I posted is of a real chainsaw but I have seen toy ones that look like that model. It's kind of an "Ugly Duckling" in the chainsaw world, but Homelite sold lots of them. Throw up a pic. Hopefully you'd like the toy to go to one of these loyal USA-made Homelite fans here that have saved many of them from the scrap heap and now use and display them proudly.

Sounds like probably you have one of the XL-12 toys. Only toys I've seen are the 150 and the XL-12. I think Ertl made 'em, bit I could be wrong. I think they were painted different colors and sold not only as a Homelite. As far as value, that's tough. Depends on alot, mainly on how much somebody out there wants one.

I could tell your photo is a real chainsaw but Homelite did sell toy ones like that too. I saw a 1971 news article that ran about the introduction of the toy based on the new 150, but the paper didn't post any photos unfortunately. I have seen a similar toy chainsaw on the internet with the label tru-scale but I don't know if that is a Homelite brand or not. thanks!

Not only are those cool but it shows that back in the early 70's our kids were men. Notice there's no chainbrake on either one!

He has a real 150 and it still doesn't have a chain brake. Doens't use it much..... complains its too small. He likes the big heavy gear drive saws for some strange reason . Dan

Yep, My sons too. Just worried about all the other little ones out there. Back to the toy, anyone ever seen one sell? How much do they go for?

I think the 150 goes for @ $50 on Ebay.

Think that's about right Brian. I've had mine for a few years and think it was around $20. It didn't originally work and needed some minor electrical repair. Don't see either of these very often. There's many toy chainsaws out these days and new they are around $20. Sears sells 'em and Baileys has one also. Probably several others as well.

Looks like I've got the xl-12 model and di see one today on ebay starting bid of $49.99. Non working but with a box and looks like the original price was $3.95 from back when. Not sure how to post a picture on this forum but am ready to sell on ebay. Mine does work and it's definitely a cool item! thanks for the help.

I don't understand why they painted them green. If it was red I would have paid the $50 for that one on Ebay that you mentioned.
