I have a Homelite 240 which runs well but the chain oiler doesn't seem to work. Any advice on what might be wrong?

Hi Joe and welcome. I've only played with one 240 in my life, so not wealth of knowledge, but I do know many people have said they are problematic. The pump is a diaphragm in a plastic housing that's located front of the air filter. First place to check is all the lines. There's a pulse line that provides pressure pulses, a feed from the tank, and an outlet to the bar. If any of these lines are cracked, it'll have problems. That's where I'd recommend checking first. Yes, Dan is right. I have one of these sitting on my bench right now. I would suspect the lines are bad. They aren't much fun to get to either. I had to pull the re-coil cover, flywheel and then the tanks to get to the lines. While you're there you might as well put a new fuel line and filter in too. Also, make sure the clunker is on the end of the oil line and isn't plugged up.

Thanks, guys. I've looked at it closer and I think the lines are good. What's not so good is that oil is leaking out the little hole in the side of the oiler. I assume that means the diaphragm has a hole or a crack in it. I'll also assume that diaphragm is no longer available?

Hi, A-95070 is the oiler plunger (as Homelite calls it). I have 1 or I'm sure you can get one elsewhere on the internet.
