I've been doing a little poking around at various saw sites because I had recalled hearing that one could modify a Stihl mount bar to work on the old large mount Homelites (i.e. the C-Series), but other than a few mentionings that it can be done I've come up empty on exactly what folks do to achieve this. Didn't know if by any chance anyone here has ever done this before or if they might know how. The idea of having the ability to purchase readily available, long-length, sprocket tip bars is very appealing.

With a bar that the slot is to large for the studs, I have used the square guttering nuts, drilled out the holes & filed on the two opposite sides to fit the bar slot, & rounding one end on each to suit bar slot ends. One of the bar companys makes a very neat set of spacers to allow the fitting of their bars to different saws

In Google I searched for "Chainsaw bar spacer" and "Chainsaw bar spacers". Here are the spacers from GB. Haven't tried them, but this is what I was thinking of making anyway. www.gbbar.com.au/barspacers.htmAlso, look on eBay at seller "edwardrehmert". Looks like it should work as well and to your door for about $8. I may go this route. eBay seller "hevinc" has some spacers listed for $2.50. Here's a thread on the arboristsite.com about the subject. www.arboristsite.com/chainsaw/10638.htmHope this helps.
