I'd like to try an 8 tooth drive sprocket on my 550. The IPL only lists 7 tooth. Anyone have a Homelite part # ? This is the type that's separate from the clutch drum. Well, I guess the 1 piece drum/sprocket would be fine too.

If it is a Rim, the Oregon rims fit. The 7 spline drive should be available in 8 tooth.

Was hoping for Homelite #s for my local shop. That's the only way he can find anything.

Thanks for the link, Joe. I think I can get the Oregon locally, I was just trying to buy from my Homelite guy.

Hey all! I got both sprockets from my Orgeon dealer too and want to do the same to my 550 but before I screw something up getting the clutch off, does it screw off clockwise or counter clockwise? I have a 36" .404 bar I want to try. Second question; bigger drive sprocket (8tooth) should put more power to the chain and less chain speed correct?

A 36" with .404 is a pretty tall order for a 550, especially if it'll see much hardwood use. Right idea about the sprockets, just the other way around, a 7 tooth will provide more power with less speed an 8 will be a higher chain speed with a lower amount of pulling power. I would definitely stick with a 7 tooth drive with that bar and chain.

Yeah I know the bar is a little big. I just wamt to play around with it some. I have a 30" too just waiting for a chain for that one. So is the clutch right hand or left hand threaded?

Left hand thread.
