Purchased this Homelite XL-1 25years ago. Never gave me a lick of problems. So I owe it. New coil 68716,points 68710,condenser 68711 new kill switch, one or two pawl springs. She finally quit with no spark. Model 50052 Canadian. X18050 on coil. Not a lot of hours on this girl, compression will still break a wrist. Could just junk her but I like the older saws. Let me know if you can help me out to get her going again. Thanks a bunch. Pics if u want let me know.

Although they do fail, in general, the breaker point coils have a good life. Have you pulled the flywheel and checked the points? Do you have an OHM meter? There is a general procedure for testing the ignition - it is under tutorials and is titled Ignition System Testing. There is another one title Magneto Ignition Systems which is some theory.
