I Can get a good deal on a 30" bar and chain to fit my Super XL AO. Does the saw have enough umpphh to cut with it? Any other thoughts?
.375, .063, skip chisel chain
Thanks, new to this classic Homelite thing.

It's about 6 inches too long, hang it on that 925 you will need to find now that you have a B&C for.

Randy's always recommending the newer Homelites ;D ;D Keep your eye open for anything from the XL-800 to the XL925. I don't know what you mean by a good deal. Is it Homelite branded or something else? Sprocket tipped or hard nose? So to get back to your question, the SXL may handle it because it is a skip chain but it is a pretty long bar for that engine especially if the rakers are set to anything more than .025. It would work if the chain was .325 pitch but that would mean a sprocket change too.

I'm just being helpfull. Besides the more you-all get to chasin' those yuppy saws, the more old classics are left for me.
Use semi-chisel, your chainsaw will tell you if the is too much bite, file the bit back until it's more happy cutting, indeed a higher raker height will allow it cut easier.

Thanks for the replys. I should have about $40 bucks into the B&C combo. Carlton hardnose bar. I have a Husky thats a couple years old for my primary saw, just looking to get a bigger bar for occasional cutting when needed, but need to get into it cheaply.

I agree with Randy...too much bar for a 50 cc class saw. Drop back to a 24 " or 20". The SXLAO is a good strong saw but I don't think it will pull a 30" bar buried. It will be nose heavy as well.

I saw an XL 101 on ebay once with about a 36" bar & some monster dogs on it. Looked ridiculous. A 16 or 20 at the most, you'll cut more wood faster.

I prefer 18" and 20" bars on my XL12/SXL-AO saws.
