Sure looks to me like all the ads are killing House of Homelite. It is taking forever for pages to load and as I watch the bottom line of my browser I can see that there are ads loading. Are the rest of you seeing this too? I've also notices that some longtime participants haven't signed on in months and I'm wondering if it is the slow response has taken its toll. Not everyone on this board connects with some level of "high speed" internet connect - some still dial in. If it is taking 30 seconds for a page to load using a modest speed DSL connection, I can just imagine how long it would take on a dial up.

I am a DSL user and the load times are tolerable.
I am not sure what is up.... I had a busy Fishing season. the saws performed well. Stumbled into a few 1130 G's and just have been giddy as hell.

I find them completely annoying...If they are necessary they should be smaller and on the side of the page,IMO

We have relatively slow DSL, and the ads don't cause any problems with us. Not much different than needing to scroll down on AS to get to the chainsaw section. Start charging for membership, and you'll drive a nail in the coffin. Free with ads beats pay without ads. That's one vote anyways.

Im not sure whats up with readership, it may just be the beginnings of the spring/summer slump.
The adds, well their a necessary evil. I must admit its taking longer to achieve a payout from google adds than I thought, but as soon as that comes through the banner will be gone and I can regulate the adds and sizes somewhat.
I would dump Cookies and clear your cache, then run add aware or a similar spyware tool. This usually speeds things up for me. Then again Im not waiting more than 10sec on any board for pages to load normally.

MCS, are things any better for you now? Did you try and dump cookies and such?
Ive been having some computer troubles as of late so Im not sure if the changes have helped. I tried tweeking some things on the adds server but Im limited as to what I can do.
I did find out a few things though. Posting may be off right now, but readership by regulars is steady while unique hits are up. This means the adds are drawing people to us and are working in our favor. If you poke around in the green/grey boxes you may run across a link that leads you back here which is a benifit and is getting our "Brand" out there.
The bigger adds I could do without, but its all part of the agreement. To get our name on the ones that lead to us we have to plug for Comcast and Bridgewave and such.
As far as where the adds are placed the forum software gives me no control. Let me know if you guys are seeing them in a straight line across the top or if their broken into several lines.
It wasn't until my comp went down and I had to switch out vid cards that I realized they may appear different on a CRT monitor than they do on my wide screen LCD.

I haven't had any recent problems with pages loading. When things were acting up I'd see a status message at the bottom of the browser saying is was waiting for the ad server. The page wouldn't be complete until the all the ads finished loading and that is what was slowing things down.

The ads aren't all that bad, but those flickering, shapeshifting ads on AS really suck.
