I have got a C-52 in whats to me great shape but when I got it there was no bar or chain. I have been trying to find a new bar and chain but none of the chainsaw shops can find one for me, it seems that the bar mount pattern is hard to come by, like the oregon F014 is there any others that are close enough to work?

Thanks for the info a 25" bar is about what I was looking for but I should be able to run a 32" if I go with a skip tooth chain right?

The C will run the 25" with authority and pull the 32" ok. I dont think you need to worry about skip, just use good judgement. These old saws will give you an "Oh yea" feeling and are enjoyable to run.

Talked to parts guy today that said he had an old Oregon 32" with 3/8 pitch chain that he doesn't use any more cause he doesn't have a saw to run. I have got to go get it but it is free and supposed to be in great condition.

Found out today after talking to one of the guys at Oregon that they have discontinued the bar pattern F014 and that the closest they have now is the D0196 and that it should work but might take a slight oil hole modification, just thought I would throw that information out there.

Along with notching the oil hole a little, you have to check the side plates to make sure they don't interfere with the cutters. The bar mount area of the D196 is not as tall as the F014.

That s what I asked the guy at Oregon but he didn't have an answer for cause he didn't know much about the C series saws but I got a friend who's grandpa has got an old junk F196 so I am going to see if it will work, but it looks like the Carlton will be the best bet on a new bar.
