In my family there is a lot of big homelites. One particular uncle has a 1130G that is a PIA. When cutting wood it is fine but when cutting Ice it *always* gets wet. this is a 15 year old issue.
I finally got my cousin to trust me workng on the saw, I looked it over ran it until warm then went to the pond to test. About 1/2 way through the required time it takes to open a hole It quit. No spark. I dissasemble the saw and found a atom little chip. Out it came and in went the ignition from a super 1050 ( the one that really rips) and tada a great running saw. Going to test it out today.
What is a atom ignition? Who makes it? is it reliable? How much did they cost?
I assume it is Current discharge?

If I remember correctly the Atom chip converts a saw from a points ignition to electronic ignition. I don't think they are made any longer...at least by Atom. I have a chip from another mfg'r on an SXLAO and it is pretty reliable but you need to make sure you have a good hold on the handle when you pull the rope ! I believe it advances the timing somewhat. I think I paid about $12 last year for the one I bought.

Good info in the link, thanks for digging that up I missed that one.
Just hit the bottom of the garbage can with the old one.
Cut Ice like a mad man, water flying every where.
I may have to keep one in stock for a back up system when I get stumped on a points saw.

Got one word for ya' megafire. If you get it hooked up backward,it has spade plugs. You just unplug an switch instead of re-wiring.I've used both brands. The megafire seems to be alittle tougher, and less sensitive to atmospheric conditions, like water. If you have a larger displacement beast you need to pull firmly and smartly,or you will end up w/aching fingers and maybe a sore forearm.

Most Napa auto parts store sell these. I think they are the Nova brand. I just put one in an 028 Stihl tonight. Worked great

Thanks mike, Tommorrow is Go time. I installed points and a new Secondary wire.
That saw will be cutting ice from early morning until mid afternoon.......
I am sure I will get a ear full if it quits.
If it does I may take you up on that.\

Just a thought, your module may have had a crack in it.
I have these on some equipment that sits out all the time and I rarely have trouble starting. Im even using one from an Echo weed trimmer on a big Old School Briggs 16hp that it seems to love. I lug this engine quite a bit when Im back in the woods and it just doesn't stall and will idle @ 100-200RPM all day.
