I once read on this or another forum that the Super XL and the XL103 share the same piston/rings. Anyone know for sure?

The original 1 13/16" piston used in the early XL-15 and SuperXL was A-59468 and it use two retaining rings of the same part number. The XL-103 shows A-59468-B and this includes two different retaining rings. A later SXL IPL show A-59468-C - two different retaining rings like the 103 but the "C" part number includes the piston rings. So, the piston is most likely the same but, over time, Homelite changed what was included in the box.

The original 1 13/16" piston used in the early XL-15 and SuperXL ... I thought the XL-15 used the smaller engine as in the XL-12, and not the larger SXL engine Not that it really matters since odds of coming across a XL-15 are about as good as picking the winning lottery numbers for tomorrow night, but still, its good to get all this stuff straight in the head ;D. Hi Dan, Your right on with the XL-15,....it used the same ring as the XL-12, 58877. Now the Super XL-15 had a little more power due to its larger cylinder......it used the larger Super XL ring, the 59436. Joe

I see it now. Had to get our son's secret decoder glasses.... it's all perfectly clear now. ;D
Actually, I didn't realize they made a Super XL-15 before this, so as usual, there's always something new to learn around here.
