I got a little rope burn trying to start it with my hands in my pockets but I did figure out how to work the throttle. ;D
Anyways... I set the fast mixture and it seems to cut pretty well but it still dies out at the lower speeds at times.
I think most of my problem is fixed now that I know how to set the high speed. I still plan to order a plug and air filter so I can scavange firewood for next winter.
I'll keep you gentlemen posted.
Thanks, Rob
P.S. If I start buying homelites on ebay I'm gonna be pissed at you guys! Shame on you, I have enough hobbies.

No, my XL has a single needle carb and I just can't get it to act right, I have had it close and then it gives me grief again, I dunno how well the single needles are supposed to work.

Angel, thats about what they do. Your best bet is to find a good used twin needle carb, or buy my lil S-2.

I have two Super 2's and the XL and all of the carbs are single needles. ITs too bad, cuz they're fun little saws to work on and I wish I could get one of them running right.

Well my super2 seems to be running pretty good now since you guys told me how to adjust it so I guess it's time to tear it apart and "fix" it. I used the 1/3 turn rather than turning til it 4-strokes cause I have no idea what "4-strokes" means.
I'm planning on buying some parts from CMS. Is there a carb rebuild kit that I can buy to go with the air filter and spark plug?
Should I buy new needles, springs o-rings or whatever goes with the needles?
I also want to clean out all the sawdust gunk before I hurt the saw. It hasn't had regular maintenance and when I got it 10 years ago it already looked pretty beat up.

By CMS, do you mean Calvin? He could help you out and would appreciate your business. .

Yes, CM Smallengines.
If I open up the super 2 I want to rebuild anything I can. I'm sure it's about due.
