Can you be a little more specific on what you mean by the right sprocket? Have you bought one and tried but it didn't fit? What pitch chain are you using. There is a number on the drive link that will tell us. There are two styles of "sprockets" used. One style is referred to as a spur sprocket and the sprocket is welded to the drum. The other style uses a "hub and drum" with a replaceable rim. You buy the rim that matches the chain you use. In most cases the SXLAO runs 3/8 pitch chain but it looks like you saw is a 1970 so it could have .404 chain. Craig

I havent got one yet, The origonal is a 3/8, 8teeth, spur sprocket.
It has A58745-1 stamped on it.Will a 7 teeth work? Im not a collecter, just your average guy that likes old saws that work a start right up (like this one) i use it about every weekend cuting up fire wood with my dad. it has a new chain on it and it relly needs a new sprocket

The typical, standard, setup for the Super XL of the early '70s was a 7 tooth sprocket, 3/8 pitch chain, and 60 drive links on a 16" bar. What size bar are you using and how many links are in the new chain? I can't find that part number in my IPL, but it is probably as old as the saw!

That makes sense and you should be able to run a 7 tooth without any problem.
