I was interested in what the group thought of the C-52, or something along that line. Also was interested in finding a good XL-901 or 925. Would like to run at least a 20" or 24" bar.
We owned a 901 back in the day and used it to cut the timber for our small sawmill, commonly called a "groundhog mill" at that time. We primarily sawed crossties to sell to the railroad, and some rough lumber we sold locally.
I am needing a larger saw to cut some big trees that will be worked up in firewood, I have several of the SXL family and also a SEZ for the smaller work.

The 901, at 4.7 cu in would certainly be a jump up from a SXL, but... if you plan to do some cutting, why not the 903? In the late '60s when the 90x saws were current, automatic oiling was a luxury but that is no longer true. If you don't mind the pumping then the C-52 or similar or the XL-901 will work. Personally, I like the XL-700 to 900 line as I feel they are a little more compact. Craig

Take a step into the 20th century with a 350-360 auto oiler and anti vibe!! Is this model similar to the 901 or C52 saw mentioned above? I am not familiar with these models. What years were they made? Are they similiar to the older saws, I can work on these old saws.

I guess you could say it is more similar to a 901 but anything with antivibe does change things a bit. The 360 is not a large saw(57 cc) but they are overacheivers for their size, will outcut c52 on smaller stuff and they have a muffler.

Take a step into the 20th century with a 350-360 auto oiler and anti vibe!! I got a chuckle out of your post ;D and I'm not knocking it at all. 350-360 are nice saws, but your still talking about a what, 25 year old saw.

I have an XL901 I'm working on getting running again. It came to me in pretty bad shape and needs a flywheel which is on the way.
Will run good but will be like the ugly girlfriend you don't tell anyone about.

This past weekend I cut some cookies with a couple saws just to run them a little. One was my brand new Dolmar 5100. What a wonderful saw. I also ran my 350 Homie and it is hard to see a 25 year difference in them. My 350 was one that I picked up at a pawn shop thinking it looked like an ok saw and every time I run it I am amazed at how much I like it. Granted I havent run it all day but I dont think it would disappoint.
