I am having difficulity in replacing the moulded fuel line in a SXL I am reworking. I never had this problem using the original Homelite fuel line as they would stretch and you could pull them through the hole in the tank. These aftermarket lines are so hard that I am unable to get them to pull through the hole.
Any secrets to replacing this line, or do I just use the grommets and the smaller line and modify the carb inlet elbow?
Thanks

Yellow Tygon (a little larger than the grommet) is pliable enough to pull through the grommet and still seal the grommet/hose. It worked well on my SXLAO.

The problem is the molded fuel line does not use a grommet. When grommets are put in and a smaller line is used, it does not fit on the elbow of the carb. these SXL use . A smaller elbow (plastic) can be purchased and replaced on the carb. if they are still available. If they aren't changed the small line will split when trying to put on the carb. elbow are will split soon after. chain saw lady

Thanks I put one of these in an XL-12 awhile back and did have a difficult time getting it into the tank. That material is stiff. I didn't have the rear handle mounted so I had good access to the hole in the tank. I ended up using a needle nose pliers, some grease, a knife, and persistence. First, I trimmed a little off the taper that has to go into the tank and then I pulled on the end in the tank and squeezed and pushed the line from the outside with the pliers and got it worked into the hole. It doesn't leak so I was successful ;D Craig
