hello all,
I just started revamping the mess the repair shop made of my 925.
I got the thing back and it wouldnt run...started tinkering....found they left out the in-tank fuel line, air filter, and carb-reed body gasket..........well worth the $70 repair tab ay!!??!!
but thats old news I suppose..its been a year and a half setting under my work bench...time to dig in!
I started by pulling the carb to put the gasket in....and apparently I never actually bought one???duh!!....anyhow...I was going to just put it together properly and get it runnung again.
BUT in the process I dropped one of the reeds inside the crankcase...all the way in....and ended up dismantling the saw........so I guess it a full on resto after all..or at least a decent partial...piston looks good ,no scoring on it or the cylinder walls...I'll throw a new set of rings at it since I'm in there.
Since its being rebuilt in memory of my Dad...I want to do it right...which will take time.
what do you guys think...should I
1) clean and reassemble...and run the way Dad had it?
2) strip it and resto to like new condition?
3) maybe resto it and throw some mods at it?
I'm leaning towards 2 since its mostly apart, and I have the SCS decals already.....but hot rod mods is something Dad would get a chuckle out of....this saw was his pride and joy....maybe kick it up a notch for him?!
I suppose I would need some insight as to what some cool cheap mods would be....if there are such things....speak slowly I'm rather new to this!!LOL
