Picked up a XL-901 in pathetic condition. It will run though. I'm working on the physical conditions now and will definately need a flywheel. I really can't understand why about half the fins are busted off it but I need one. Can anyone share info on what flywheel / part number / other saws share the same flywheel? etc.
This beast is battered but need resurection. It fires with gas in the carb and I know it will be a great runner although pock marked.
Thanks...........J

Maybe someone thought it was easier to hold the flywheel with a screwdriver than use a piston stop?

I bought some parts thru our Homelite salesman. I think it was a tree trimming business and why they had so many rotors I don't know. Let me know if you are interested. They also fit the 700 and 800, 900, but not the 925. chain saw lady (Joyce)

The only reason the fins break is because someone used, as Mike said, a screwdriver to lock the flywheel to remove the flywheel nut or to remove the sprocket. TG, your in luck, CSL has some

925.If you need a recoil we have one in pretty good shape that is off of a 901,we've also got a new air cleaner cover and clutch cover that don't have any decals. Then you can get sugercreek to send you a new set over to doll the old saw up a little. 417 743 2491 ask for Debbie.

Keep in mind that the 901 has 5/16" bar studs so you need a cover with 5/16" holes.

Great point MCS... just another of those little details that, even though all these saws are similar, makes each model somewhat unique.
