ok guy's, got my starter together for my newest 650 and when I rev it up it will act like it hits a rev limiter. kinda a poping noise too.
right now I only have one screw holding coil thing on spark plug.
next week I am headed to see bryce and get the new part for the transformer mount.
anything else I should check?
thanks, ric

hmmmm, I know the blue modules used on the 450s had a rev limiter built into 'em. This worked in conjunction with their fixed high-jet carbs. There's a white version used on the demolition saws that I'm pretty sure has a limiter too. The black one's don't though, and that's what should be on a 650. Any chance you may have one that ain't black on it that may have been swapped? About positive the WBs don't have a governor in 'em.

Well it sound like on the 650 you have a problem with the ground point by the spark plug at the left side where the transformer screws on.
I've seen this on several saws that I have fixed. Oh, and by the way, you can remove and replace the transformer mount without disassembling the whole back of the saw. I found this out the hard way etc. Just squeeze the device and it will come out. Its plyables.
Clean the ground point at the inside of the cylinder cover.
As far as the 2100 I have not worked on one of those beasties but check the ground points etc and check for loose screws. I'm sure you already know this.
Good luck. These Homies are worth keeping running and I commend you for trying to keep them going......JJ

Thanks Dan and TOPGUT. I have not looked at any conections yet but that sounds like a good place to start. I thought I would throw this out and see if any components were prone to failure and showed these signs,,
I was wondering how to get that peice out of the case too. looked like a tear down.

Just saw the videos Ric. Yep, that's about my kinda luck ;D. Hopefully John's recommendation will fix the problem on the 650. Eric mentioned way back that he added an extra ground wire to help with ignition issues on some of the '50 saws. I've never experienced this kinda issue, but its probably because first thing I do is strip 'em down and clean 'em up, so been been lucky that they're getting a good contact. Got a bunch with that ignition setup and the modules and transformers seem to be pretty reliable.
I'd look at the condenser and check the points on that 2100. Gotta be some little ignition issue there. Both great saws! Can't wait to see the videos cutting wood after you've got 'em running right.
