Hi all , I was referred here,to HoH! I have been following another site for a bit lurking and learning.I live in British Columbia. I just scored a good deal on a Homelite UT10560 with a 14inch bar. The instruction manual says it s a 16 bar & the side cover says 35cc but the sticker and the manual say it is 42 cc. What is up with that. I know this is a plastic saw but it is used only for camping and a few odd jobs. I would like to modify this a bit by opening up the muffler if possible? ? What is the true cc of the saw 35cc(side cover) or 42cc sticker? Any quick hop ups to rip thru wood quicker? Chain? I used to have a husky that was done up a bit ,it was fine until I loaned it to a guy and he gassed it with A100 (aircraft gas) and 10w30 after my pre mix jug was gone. When it locked up the rod twisted 90* and split the jug! Mark 'happy to have another saw'

Hi Mark, Great that you stopped in at House of Homelite. Bad news is, I don't know how much help you will get with your metric Homelite. The Homelite trade mark has gone through a lot of change the past 20 years and what is on the shelf now, mostly Home Depot, is not the same as the Homelites of years ago. Suggestion, use the saw the way it is with a correctly sharpened chain.

Thanks MCS for the info,
I know the new homies are no where close to the old homies.
I had a peak at Ebay they have a muffler on there for $10 and another $10 for shipping ,I think it will be worth the $20 to have a try, nothing ventured nothing gained.

Ok, first off any chance you could post up a pic of the saw and the muffler area? As far as determining cc's not sure as I do know the recoils and parts on these could be swapped between the 35 and 42 cc saws. None the less, I would take your existing muffler off and gut it. Unless this is to be used on public property or where noise levels are an issue, straight gut the muffler as this will give you the least amount of restriction. Next you'll have to re-adjust the carb to account for the better exhaust flow...failure to do so will cause a lean condition and burn up the saw over time. Only other suggestion is buy a really good chain, I prefer oregon chisel chain as it will cut the best...
