Hello I have a Homelite XL-76 that was not used for years which I have running now but would like to by a replacement chain for it. The Homelit bar looks good but I am not sure what chain will be the right one to buy for it. Would the Oregon H67 be the right one or?

What length bar is on the saw now?
Is it a original homelite bar, oregon bar or other manufacturer?
How many drivelinks is the chain on it now?

Oregon: H67 will not fit an XL-76 with a 16" guide bar... incorrect pitch( .325" ) and drive link count ( 67 ).
Oregon: D59 - AdvanceCut will fit .. available on amazon.ca for 23.95
I prefer the Oregon: E59 - PowerCut ( 72LPX059G ) .. Less readily avail. but a good quality made in Canada chain.
20" Homelite bars will require "72" chain with 70 drive links. .. 72LPX070G , 72EXL070G , 72DPX070G .. etc.

Thank you for your help.
I am also going to try sharpening the chain that is on it to test it to see if it will do. I really wont be using it much but want it to not struggle cutting when i do.

I don't mind having an extra one around but am not sure if the S59 would be fine and work and fit as needed on the XL-76. It mentions a short cut on it but not short what that really translates to. Any guidance here would be helpful

the S59 is 3/8" low profile (chain link marked 91), the D59 is 3/8" std profile (chain link marked 72) The lp is too small for your saw and will be very slow in cutting.

Thank you for the feedback and direction on this. Glad to have someone with the knowledge help me along with all this. The saw runs really well with a new carb kit I put in and I also put in a new fuel line and grommets and new pull string as well.
My current chain, though I tried to sharpen it, I guess i didn't do a great job and thus it doesn't currently cut as well as I recall it doing years ago with a new chain. Looking forward to getting the new chain in place and trying it then
