Hi,
I have a multi-part question that I would like some help with.
I am in the process of rebuilding a 1973, XL-123. The saw came without a bar. Therefore, I started to investigate what bar options were/are available for this saw. I found that the suggested/published bar length range is 12" -24" as I assumed it would be given the saw's size (i.e., 57CC).
The chart/table I found on HOH courtesy of Undee70ss provided the 9-digit decoding for Homelite bars.
I would like/looking for a Hardnose/tip (GW, gas welded/solid) in position 1-2 of 9), 20 (20" length, positions 3 and 4 of 9), position 5 - 6 = 38 ( 3/8" chain), position 7 = 1 ( 0.050 groove width), Position 8 ( appears to be a "misc." field which I am not sure I am looking for anything specific unless someone advises differently) and position 9, "Type of mounting pad" ( the document shows the XL-123 requires a "3" in this position , In other words, I am looking for the bar code of GW20381?3
Question 1) Does anyone know if Homelite ever produced this bar configuration? If not, perhaps a list of bars options that existed when this saw was produced/sold? I beleive the years of XL -123 production where 1971 - 1974.
Question 2) Does anyone have a cross-reference chart to other vendors (e.g., Oregon, Winsor, etc.) for Homelite bar codes in general to hopefully include this variation/configuration?
Question 3) If a complete bar code (i.e., 9 digits) cross reference does not exist, perhaps at least a "Type of mounting pad" (i.e., 9th position of the Homelite bar code) conversion to help identify a mounting pattern match to today's manufacturer's coding methodology (e.g., Oregon).
Question 4) Last but not least, does anyone have a Drive Link (DL) chart/table reflecting the relationship between the bar length and number of DLs would be nice (e.g., 16" = 59DL, etc.) for 3/8" chain.
Charlie
