I came across an old Super2 today that has an engine with great compression, but the metal handle part of the case has a chunk missing out of it with the broken plastic cover.I also have an LX30 that has an engine with really low compression.I was wondering if I swapped the flywheel from the electronic LX30 along with the module onto the Super2 points saw if it'd work?I've never seen a Super2 with oil & fuel caps that screw into the tank.I've seen that style on an XL or XL2.The Super2 doesn't have a UT#,looks more like a Lot#,I remember it starting with the letter G.I'll get more info on it tomorrow.I originally started looking for a different case for the engine, but I can't justify paying $30 or more for one. Then I remembered the LX30 case I have. Here are a couple pics.

Not sure on the ignition question, won't take much to give a try though. Should work if the flywheel key slot is the same in the crankshaft, meaning the same timing.
Those screw in caps on the tanks came on the earlier Super 2's. That's how mine was until I switched out the tanks. I think it's a '79 model.
I bet it has the fully adjustable carb too. If so, it might make a very good runner.

Thanks for the reply Brent.Something I thought of after I posted last night was if the flywheel would fit due to the lobe on the cranlk for the points. If the electronic system doesn't work,I'll make it electronic with a chip which will eliminate the points & condenser.I like the old systems better than the electronic ones, but since the condensers are now approaching 50 yrs.oldI don't like fooling with 'em much. Ther top ID # on the ID plate is G6299 & the bottom # is 45569269.I have no idea how to date the saw with these #s.

Saw was made on the 299th day of 1976.

That is a classic! And further to the plug type tank caps, they were prone to leaking, hence switching to the newer style with the external threads on the tank necks.
The points lobe on the crank won't affect fitment of the flywheel, just needs the same orientation of the keyway to provide correct ignition timing.

Do not know about your Super 2 swap for sure, but I've done such on the EZ's.
I just left the points wire in place installed the flywheel (which has opposite polarity magnet) installed the electronic mag and at first took a variable speed drill and slowly brought the crankshaft up to speed with no spark plug installed and watched the spark. If I got good spark timing was ok.
I also keep some of the old atom chips around to use as a sub test to see if a run issue is the points condenser area. I've not had any good luck with consistency when trying to use the NOVA chips, if one runs correctly today it may not tomorrow, I've had to swap polarity on same type chip to get a run, timing not consistent from one chip to another but the old Atom chips were really good and user friendly. They were color coded and two colors would run good in the EZ's. They still surface every once in awhile. Being modern times I hope someone other than China tries to bring the Atom chips back around.
