I ordered up a aftermarket piston for a XL76 project because of hard to find Oem replacements. Piston itself looks fine, but the pin fit is extremely loose, to the point of if the piston is turned sideways, the pin hits the floor. how loose is too loose? I’ve ordered oem pistons for few different saws and a good amount of hand pressure is what is needed, and a few have needed light tapping. thanks in advance. Greg.

How's the fit in the connecting rod? Are you using the aftermarket pin or factory? Did you order said piston from LRB?

Fast response From LRB: Pin is a slip fit not a press fit. Thanks, Lee. Fit in the connecting rod with a new oem bearing, axial play, can feel quit a bit. Used oem pin measures .375, LRB pin .372”. Thinking about cleaning up a used oem piston and pin to use on this saw instead. Greg

.003 smaller wrist pin probably won't enjoy a very long and lasting life. It'll run but I wouldn't be surprised if you hear a knock. I'm guessing the fit between the rod bearing and the wrist pin will cause the biggest issue first.
