What’s up with clear fuel caps?

Just curious if anyone can tell me what’s up with the rare clear Homelite fuel caps? What models did they come with or fit?

They were used on the Homelite 410 for a short period.

If I recall correctly, they didn't work out so well. I think fuel attacked them and softened them prompting Homelite to change to a black material.
